When a demon takes possession of her, high-school hottie Jennifer (Megan Fox) turns a hungry eye on guys who never stood a chance with her before. While evil Jennifer satisfies her appetite for human flesh with the school’s male population, her nerdy friend, Needy (Amanda Seyfried), learns what’s happening and vows to put an end to the carnage.

There are crazy horror movies, and then there’s Jennifer’s Body, an extremely outrageous, over-the-top goofy, and legitimately scary film that, despite being released thirteen years ago, still holds up incredibly well and has since gone down in history as a cult film and one that is being discovered by more people than ever.

Karyn Kusama‘s film is one that’s filled with a sense of viciousness that’s rarely seen in the genre today and it’s so refreshing. This movie would never ever be made today and that’s a crying shame because it is essentially a passion project for the cast and crew. They all seemed as though they had the time of their lives making this zany movie.

Diablo Cody‘s script is filled to the brim with tons of memorable moments – many of which will make you want to rewind the film just to see if you really did just see that. Does the dialogue come across as hilariously cheesy and silly at times? Yes. The dialogue here is kind of awful, actually. But Cody clearly was self-aware about this. The film is supposed to be goofy and boy does it ever work.

This is a film that beautifully manages to balance comedy and horror, which is not an easy thing to do. One minute, you’ll be laughing at something highly over-the-top and the next, you’ll find yourself getting the creeps from watching Megan Fox wander around with a knife in hand, complete with a devilish grin.

Then there’s Amanda Seyfried in the role of Needy, delivering one of the best performances of her career. Seyfried brings a lot to the table and makes acting scared look easy. Funny enough, this film reminds me so much of if her film Mean Girls was actually a horror film.

There’s also some super impressive and entertaining kills throughout that are sure to delight those in search of a bloody good time. Sure, the visuals and practical effects here aren’t anywhere near as dazzling as some of the films that are being released today, but it’s still a delight to see.

This is one of the absolute best movies to put on to signal the arrival of Fall. Despite being a bloodbath of a horror film, there’s something so oddly cozy about it all. Get your comfiest blanket, have a pumpkin spice drink, sit back, relax, and watch the magic unfold that is Jennifer’s Body.

Jennifer’s Body is a devilishly good and campy time thanks to a witty script from Diablo Cody and an entertaining performance from Megan Fox.
