You have to have a certain sense of humor to find the long-running and wildly popular Jackass franchise enjoyable. I’ve seen clips from the Jackass guys all throughout my life. I vividly remember going to middle school and having some of my friends show me scenes from some of the movies and I never found them to be all that funny.
Sure, there were some stunts that were absolutely wild and that made me laugh, but mostly, my sense of humor is different than the kind that the Jackass franchise delivers. Nevertheless, I decided to check out Jackass Forever and I ultimately ended up having a decent time despite not everything landing.
This movie is off-the-wall crazy from the moment it begins to the moment it ends. There’s truly never a moment in Jackass Forever where something normal is happening on-screen. It’s pure chaos throughout every passing moment and if you’re a massive fan of this franchise, you’re probably going to be in stitches laughing at this movie and all the insane stunts.
Lots of this movie rides on the personality and charisma of Johnny Knoxville, who’s back and better than ever before here. Other great standouts here include Steve-O, Chris Pontius, and Dave England, but really, it’s Knoxville who’s the heart and soul of this project.
To be honest, it’s kind of amazing how we have a franchise consisting of a bunch of movies where we just watch a group of people hurting themselves in creative ways. The world loves to see other people getting themselves into harmful situations, which is a bit fascinating.
This isn’t going to be one of the most memorable movies for me of the entire year, but if you’re someone who’s been a fan of this series since day one, you’ll probably find yourself going back on YouTube and rewatching some of your favorite scenes from this truly wild movie.
At the end of the day, Jackass Forever is a movie that I ended up enjoying in the long run, but it’s definitely not a movie I’ll ever have a desire to revisit or look at in a different lens. It’s purely a bunch of silly fun, and if you’re a huge sucker for that kind of stuff, you’ll have a blast with this.
