For many superhero and comic book film fans all over the world, the release of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War seemed like it would never be released after 2008’s Iron Man because fans were so excited to see the Avengers go toe-to-toe with the monstrously evil and powerful Thanos. But now, the film is finally here.

The basic plot synopsis of Avengers: Infinity War is that an extraordinarily powerful figure known as Thanos (Josh Brolin) sets out on a galaxy-spanning quest to gather all six “infinity stones” – gems that, if all are collected and placed in the Infinity Gauntlet, will grant the wearer immense power. The user will have the capability to wipe out the entire universe with a simple snap of their fingers.

Thanos, being the blood-thirsty entity that he is, desperately seeks the infinity stones. Now, it is up to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers, as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy, to team up with each other in order to put a stop to Thanos before he can reach the infinity stones.

The acting all across the board in Avengers: Infinity War is truly terrific. Usually with a film in the long-running Marvel Cinematic Universe, it can be clear who the true acting standout is among the cast. But, with this film, there genuinely is no clear true standout actor/actress among the bunch, as they all bring their A-game for this colossal entry. For example, Robert Downey Jr. is absolutely amazing once again as Tony Stark / Iron Man, and Zoe Saldana is phenomenal as Gamora, who has a surprisingly emotional character arc that I never saw coming.

Furthermore, Thanos is extraordinarily well-portrayed and has great motivations for what he is doing. You do not necessarily condone his actions, but you can definitely see where he is coming from.

Being a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, CGI-heavy action will ensue. With Infinity War, luckily, Marvel proves to be on the top of the game with their beautifully pieced together action scenes. The CGI is not even noticeable in this film, particularly with Brolin’s Thanos.

Also, the cinematography is beautiful and chilling to look at in Avengers: Infinity War, shot wonderfully by Trent Opaloch, who also provided cinematography for 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

Avengers: Infinity War is an immensely satisfying and emotional thrill-ride that will leave long-time fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in awe.
